1LIMS went from zero to 30 monthly conversions with our inbound strategy and execution
1LIMS is a Switzerland-based laboratory information management system founded by Philipp Osterwalder. 1LIMS is designed to help quality control (QC) laboratories in manufacturing companies operate more efficiently. Although the company was founded in 2016, it didn’t begin investing in content marketing consistently until 2023, when we were introduced to them through another Swiss client.
When 1LIMS first approached Zmist & Copy, they had all the elements of a strong offering: a good product, market fit, a few loyal clients. However, they lacked the visibility needed for consistent customer acquisition. The objective was clear - establish 1LIMS’s presence in search results to ensure their solution could be discovered by potential clients.
It’s a familiar scenario: tech companies often focus on product development (their core strength) while marketing takes a back seat.
As a result, their solutions struggle to gain traction.
That was the case with 1LIMS. Despite a great product, they weren’t reaching the clients who needed it. The absence of a solid go-to-market strategy held the company back.
We began by figuring out what truly set 1LIMS apart. In a crowded LIMS market, dominated by lookalike websites and hard-to-parse value propositions, this wasn’t easy. But through deep positioning work, we identified 1LIMS’s key differentiators and crafted a message that would resonate with their ideal customers.
Our positioning focused on four core strengths:
→ Easy to use and more affordable than most LIMS solutions (often overbuilt and expensive)
→ Fully operational in just one month, not six
→ Tailored for food & beverage companies, a segment often overlooked in favour of pharma and biotech
→ Main benefit: It saves hours per week - a message we created for our ICP, still using spreadsheets and paper
Next, we turned that positioning into a website that speaks directly to 1LIMS’s audience.
We redesigned the site to showcase the most relevant product features, company services, and case studies, ensuring every page directly addresses what potential buyers are searching for.
Our content approach focuses on three goals:
→ Boosting visibility with content optimized for search intent.
→ Building trust through thought leadership articles and customer case studies, crafted from interviews with clients and industry experts, including a Swiss university professor.
→ Capturing leads via an 18-page LIMS Buyers Guide, created to help customers make informed decisions.
1LIMS achieved 4,500 monthly organic visits and secured top rankings for highly competitive keywords like “LIMS,” “lab management software,” “LIMS price,” and “LIMS integration.” The website generates up to 30 conversions per month, including demo calls, form submissions, and ebook downloads. Within just three months, 1LIMS established a consistent flow of MQLs at a rate of 5 per month. Direct traffic nearly doubled, rising by 184%, which reflects stronger brand recognition and repeat visits.
Notable increase in new customers, firm performance in SEO rankings for targeted keywords. Key pages on the 1LIMS website drive conversions and show promising results. They didn’t just create content for the sake of it; they aligned each piece with specific goals, such as improving keyword rankings and driving organic traffic. It's a pleasure to work together.
Lean strategies can still deliver strong outcomes. This project ran on a limited budget, yet still achieved consistent growth. With just one blog post per month and very limited link building, all traffic was generated organically.
